Next Meeting:
5/21 from 1-3:30 at OASAS 1450 Western Ave Albany Conference Room 2B
Mission Statement
The Criminal Justice Committee is focused on initiatives that involve the intersection of treatment providers and the criminal justice system. The committee worked with other groups and individuals to mount a Criminal Justice Summit in the Spring of 2009 in anticipation of the Drug Law Reform implementation.
It also was involved in hosting regional sessions in every part of the State to bring together the local players to understand and prepare for the drug law reform changes. Since the effective date, the committee has been working closely with OASAS and other partners in the criminal justice community to anticipate problems and monitor implementation.
While the Committee will continue its involvement with Drug Law Reform activities, it will be returning to a broader focus this year, and will be working on issues related to treatment in prisons, reentry programming, DWI Screening/schools, and unified electronic reporting.
It will also be monitoring changes relative to healthcare reform and reimbursement structures for criminal justice referred clients. It will also target work with the Division of the Budget and other key State agencies and the legislature to ensure that resources flow to meet the needs of criminal justice clients.
