IT Committee Mission:
The ASAP Information Technology Committee is charged with developing strategy for the chemical dependency field in NYS around the challenges/opportunities associated with the national movement toward use of electronic records and other information technology by 2014. Its work will include:
- Educating the field about the incentives and penalties associated with EHR implementation
- Translating the Federal definition of "meaningful use" as it applies to chemical dependency treatment
- Monitoring the NYS Clinical Record Initiative and its relevance to the field
- Tracking and reporting the implications of healthcare reform for technology
- Developing options for providers to implement EHRs in an affordable and efficient manner
Advocating for the necessary funding to support the objectives listed above (e.g. - new HEAL funding stream, Federal grants/contracts, foundation support, vendor initiatives, etc.)
