ASAP’s Corona Virus 2019 Helpline – Updated Daily

(4.17.20) Online Substance Abuse Prevention Resources: This time of social distancing and quarantine comes with an increase in substance abuse and promotion of drinking to “pass the time.” Social media is full of images of people at home drinking, including jokes about parents having a glass of wine per lesson they teach their child. While these jokes aren’t intended to be harmful, they perpetuate dangerous ideas about how to cope with stress and manage emotions. Many children and teens are seeing these posts, or seeing their parents doing this, and learn to imitate these behaviors. Now is the time to have important conversations with your children about substance abuse and healthy methods of managing stress and emotions during confusing and frustrating times. The below resources can help you navigate these conversations.
