NYCB Trainer Registry Members can submit course(s) for Training Approval
Registry membership is required for training approval. All training for certification applications must be approved. Approved foundational training listed here. Approved Continuing Education (CE) listed here. Listings updated monthly.
Training approval submissions must include authorization from the developer/vendor of your preferred training products.
Trainers submitting CCAR courses must include a copy of their RCP-F.
Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed.
What is the purpose of NYCB Training Approval?
To maintain the value and integrity of NYCB certifications, the Board must ensure that training prepares candidates to be competent and ethical professionals. This is done through standards and a training approval process that verifies adequate preparation.
Do my trainings have to be approved?
Yes. To ensure your students qualify for professional certification (CARC, CRPA, CRPA-Provisional, etc.), your training completion certificates must include your individualized NYCB training approval badge issued upon approval.
How do I submit my trainings for approval?
1. One submission only per course. We do not need additional submissions when approved courses are repeated within the time-frame of the approval (i.e. the term of your current NYCB Trainer Registry Membership). Details of your NYCB Trainer Registry # and expiration date (December 31, 2025) are given in the Welcome Letter you receive via email when you become a member, and are reproduced on your individualized training approval badge, when issued.
2. Please complete all three sections of the form and upload any requested documentation in PDF only.
3. Please confirm that your course delivers competencies of both CARC and CRPA certifications; it will not be reviewed otherwise. Lists of certification competencies are posted under Which Certification?
4. For initial certifications, we require 100% competence presence (27 KSAs for CARC;plus. 54 KSAs for CRPA). Please indicate whether you are delivering 46 hours foundational training in one or two courses - e.g. CCAR Recovery Coach Academy, CCAR Ethical Considerations.
5. The training approval process is a NYCB Trainer Registry member benefit. Please note that training approval is not automatic or guaranteed.
6. When issued, your individualized training approval badge will include the date of approval expiration - i.e the conclusion of your present NYCB Trainer Registry membership term (see details in the Welcome Letter sent via email when you became a member).
7. This training approval badge must be displayed on your training completion certificates to be accepted towards professional certification at NYCB.
Is there a cost to submit trainings for approval?
Training review is available exclusively to NYCB Trainer Registry members. Each submission is evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and approval is not automatic or guaranteed.
Do I need to be a member of the NYCB Trainer Registry to submit my trainings for approval?
Yes. Please contact us at NYCB_Inquiries@IUANY.org
Will NYCB accept my training completion certificates?
Yes, if they include your individualized NYCB training approval badge issued when your training has been approved. We will not accept any third-party training certificates. Please advise your graduates not to upload documents from third-parties such CCAR.
Will NYCB accept third-party training completion certificates (i.e. CCAR) for certification?
Only completion certificates with your personalized NYCB training approval badge are accepted for initial certifications.
What do these procedures mean for my students?
Your potential students will want to know that you are a member of the NYCB Trainer Registry and that your training offerings are approved. Be sure to add your individualized training approval badge to your marketing materials.
